Accessibility into the venue

The campus features sidewalk ramps and automatic doors at all street levels, as well as accessible restrooms and elevators. Motorized devices may be used by people with mobility impairments subject to reasonable safety restrictions.

First Aid

The Center maintains a small medical facility on site. The Javits Center has 22 portable defibrillators strategically placed around the Center. The Public Safety Department has been trained in the proper use of defibrillators should such an emergency occur.

The facility is staffed with emergency medical technicians and an ambulance during events with 5,000 or more in attendance in the aggregate in accordance with the New York Public Assembly Law.

House telephones can be found in halls corridors throughout the Center and should be used to notify the Command Center of emergency situations.

Parking options for those with disabilities

A limited number of parking spaces may be available for attendees with a valid Parking Permit for People with Disabilities issued by a government authority.

Service Animals

Service animals for persons with disabilities are welcome at the Javits Center. Service animals are limited to dogs (and Mini Horses with approval) that are individually trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability. No other animals are permitted in the Javits Center except as part of an approved exhibit, activity or performance legitimately requiring the use of animals. Although emotional support animals and/or comfort animals are often used as part of a medical treatment plan as therapy animals, they are not service animals and therefore are not permitted in the Javits Center.

Wheelchair / mobility scooter rentals

The Javits Center offers mobility vehicles to assist visitors with navigating the convention center during events. These vehicles are provided on a first-come, first-serve basis. If you would like to place an order for a mobility vehicle, please visit our online ordering system, Jake.

Manually operated wheelchairs also are available at no fee but cannot be reserved. Upon arrival, please visit our Concierge Desk in the Crystal Palace off 11th Avenue or ask a Public Safety Office for assistance in securing a wheelchair. You will be required to leave a photo ID which will be returned when you return the wheelchair.
